As a certified coach and mum of two boys, I am passionate about teaching as many mums as possible the tools to beat overwhelm, banish mum guilt and become happy, confident women who feel truly Mumstoppable.
I have a vivid memory of the first time I left the house on my own, having had my first baby. I was going to a beauty appointment (a real treat) and, when I had parked my car in the car park, I had a sudden attack of anxiety and couldn’t get out of my car for about 20 minutes. I had suddenly realised that at that moment, I wasn’t “Mummy”. I felt like, because I had been Mummy and only Mummy for months, that without my baby I was… nobody! All of a sudden, I realised I didn’t know who I was anymore. I felt completely invisible and alone. It was utterly terrifying.
At that time in my life I had no idea where to turn for help. It’s only now, looking back ten years later that I can see that my issue was that I had absolutely no self-confidence. I had lost sight of my self-worth outside of motherhood, and needed help finding, and LOVING myself again.
And actually, these feelings of not knowing who I was, or what my purpose was, have reared back up at various points in my life as a mum (when I went back to work, when my kids started school and when I changed my job, to name a few!). Despite all the reading and Googling, it was coaching that helped me in the end. In fact it didn’t just help me… it changed my life. Coaching left me with a toolkit of things I can use throughout my life to ensure I don't ever feel like that again.
Having experienced the magic of coaching, and having spent the best part of 16 years working in corporate companies leading and coaching teams, I decided I wanted to retrain entirely. So I studied for almost 2 years to gain a "Coaching Professional Level 5" certificate in coaching (whilst working full-time, being a mum and a wife, and juggling the mental load... yay for being a woman!). It was HARD work, but I loved it and graduated with distinction. And I’ve not stopped coaching, or learning about different methods and tools of coaching, since!
I also became a member of the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC) and abide by the Global Code of Ethics, which I believe stands me apart from the many non-trained life coaches out there.
So, having done my training, I started up a coaching business, but quickly realised I didn’t want to just “be a coach”... I wanted to make a real difference to women. I then studied for a further 14 months and became certified as an official One of Many Certified Women's Coach. However, along the way I decided that I don't even just want to help women. Actually I want to support the women who need help most - mums! And so Mumstoppable was born, and here we are.
My mission with Mumstoppable is to teach as many mums as possible the tools to beat overwhelm, banish mum guilt and become happy, confident women who feel truly Mumstoppable!
I’m just at the beginning of my journey with Mumstoppable, and I have HUGE ambitions to make a real difference to mums everywhere. I want to break the barriers of cost, location and also fit around any mum’s busy schedule, so that I can make the biggest impact possible. It’s all in the grand plan, so to hear more about it as things develop, be sure to sign up to my newsletter. (And you’ll also get access to my FREE Mindful Mama Challenge as a bit of a thank you!)
That’s it from me for now, but know this… I see you, Mama. I’ve been where you are and I know I can help you. You can get through this. And you can flourish. You can become Mumstoppable.
Carly is an amazing coach... I gained confidence, direction and self esteem from my relationship with her and even now I still think “what would Carly say to me now?” and know the answer which helps me deal with things.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend anyone to have coaching with Carly... Carly was always so professional in her explanations of confidentiality, safe-guarding and of the sessions of being a 'safe space' to talk which made it easy to understand the guidelines and boundaries of the sessions and to get the most from them.
Our coaching relationship feels very positive, Carly is very relaxed, genuine and non-judgemental, which made me feel at ease and happy to share my thoughts. I felt like I could trust her instantly... The coaching experience has
been hugely helpful for me, so a massive thank you.
